Three Major Military Contractors Select Spectrum’s flexComm Software Defined Radio Platforms
]
Elektrobit Ltd. – We have shipped Elektrobit, a leading European research and development partner for companies that use wireless technologies, flexComm SDR platforms for the Software Defined Radio Demonstrator Program for the Finnish Defence Forces. Our SDR-3000 products will be a core component in the development of this SDR demonstrator. Elektrobit will be using our flexComm PRO-3100 FPGA processing engine, PRO-3500 G4 PowerPC processing engine, transition module reference design, and quicComm™ Hardware Abstraction Layer. The hardware tightly couples the processors and I/O through the communications infrastructure, which includes the use of flexFabric™ based on Serial RapidIO.™

Cubic Corporation - Cubic Defense Applications, a subsidiary of Cubic Corporation, selected our SDR-3000 family of software reconfigurable platforms for a software defined radio waveform development project for military communications. Cubic will be porting an SCA-compliant waveform onto the SDR-3000. The flexComm SDR-3000 SDR Development Platform for Cubic is comprised of a heterogeneous processing platform incorporating Xilinx® FPGAs, and PowerPC® processors from Motorola and IBM.

ACM Systems - Advanced CounterMeasure Systems (ACM Systems), a subsidiary of Sierra Nevada Corporation, will be using our HCDR-1001 family of software reconfigurable platforms for high-speed signal processing. ACM required a high performance Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) based signal-processing platform, and Spectrum’s HCDR platform provided an ideal technical solution on the basis of flexibility, scalability and processing power. The flexComm HCDR-1001 configuration for ACM Systems is VME-based and uses high performance FPGAs from Xilinx® and PowerPC® processors from Motorola, Inc. for high bandwidth signal processing. A dual Race++™ interface and Spectrum’s Solano®-based communications fabric are used to enable high-speed communications between the boards and processors. Our Race++-to-Solano bridge provides superior bandwidth over conventional Race++ bridging architectures.
