Software defined radio development with SCA just got easier
]
Spectrum now offers Zeligsoft's Component Enabler,
Zeligsoft CE™, with its fully-programmable flexComm™
SDR-3000 software defined radio (SDR) platform.
Zeligsoft CE is an advanced software-modeling tool that enables the design, deployment and configuration of component-based
software systems supporting the Software Communications Architecture (SCA) standard. The tool facilitates the users' understanding
of the SCA architecture and allows designers to easily manage increased software complexity. The tool automatically validates the
design, generates design documentation and generates the complete set of Extensible Markup Language (XML) descriptor files specific
to the waveform, eliminating the process of manually authoring the XML files. Zeligsoft CE accelerates SCA development, while dramatically
diminishing the risk of design errors.

Spectrum teams with Booz Allen Hamilton
]
Spectrum is teaming with Booz Allen Hamilton to pursue an
Engineering, Technical and Operational Support Services (ETOSS) omnibus support service contract being procured by the
US Army. ETOSS supersedes the Army's
Technical Engineering, Fabrication and Operations Support (TEFOS) omnibus support service contracts.
The ETOSS contract is expected to provide a broad range of operational, program management, technical engineering,
integration, prototype development and fabrication support services and products to the Information and Intelligence Warfare
Directorate (I2WD) of the US Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM). The ETOSS contractor(s) will be tasked
to perform services that require expert knowledge of technical disciplines including advanced digital signal processing and
communications, intelligence data fusion, electronic combat and other disciplines involved in multi-mission/multi-spectral technologies.

Report from Europe - NATO and SMI Software Radio Shows
]
Brussels - Spectrum was invited to participate at the first Exhibition on Software Defined Radio (SDR) organized by the
North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Headquarters. The
exhibition was held May 18-19 in Brussels, Belgium in parallel to the Spring 2005 meeting of the NATO Consultation,
Command and Control Board (NC3B). Spectrum was part of a select group of industry at this event which was attended
by senior officers of NATO and Euro-Atlantic Partnership (EAPC) countries.
SDR is a technology being developed in several NATO and EAPC nations and is likely to serve as a key enabler
for NATO Networked Enabled Capability (NNEC). The purpose of the exhibition was to demonstrate SDR products
and capability across industry to enhance NATO awareness of the state of the technology.
London - On June 8th, Spectrum hosted a
Real World Implementation of SDR and the SCA
workshop in association with SMI's Software Radio Conference held in London, UK. The full day workshop addressed the
challenges of implementing both hardware and software aspects of software defined radio. Participants began with an
architectural overview of a reconfigurable hardware platform, and stepped through the integration of an SDR software
stack including implementation of the Software Communications Architecture (SCA), discussed specific challenges of
waveform portability, and concluded with a demonstration of an SCA enabled SDR.

software defined radio solutions or inquire about our
SDR and SCA training courses, please contact sales@spectrumsignal.com.

Does the wireless industry really need all these digital IF standards?
]
Lee Pucker, Spectrum's Chief Technology Officer, ponders this question amidst the proliferation of digital IF standards.

A COTS developer's point of view on RFID
]
Once in a while, there is a technology so revolutionary that it fundamentally changes the way things are done.
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has the potential to be such a technology. Kevin Maier, a Spectrum Systems Engineer,
discusses this technology from a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) developer's point of view. Read the full article published in
the April edition of
CompactPCI and AdvancedTCA Systems Magazine.
