[ Spectrum's rugged solutions offer extended temperature range and conduction cooling ]

To address the tactical military needs for operation in harsh environments, Spectrum has designed products like the PRO-4600 and XMC-3321 from the "ground-up" to support conduction-cooling, extended temperature range, and increased shock and vibration immunity. This is achieved through the use of the following:

Rugged solutions for Tactical Military Communications (MILCOM) deployments
  • Industrial-grade components
  • Embedded stiffening and thermal mechanical structures including heat sinks and wedge locks
  • Conformal coating with a sealant for protection against high levels of humidity and other environmental contaminants
  • Software readable temperature sensors are included to monitor temperature on hot components

[ Spectrum SDR-4000 now integrated with Objective Interface Systems ORBexpress RT ]

Spectrum's SDR-4000 software defined radio (SDR) signal processing subsystem is now integrated with Objective Interface's ORBexpress® RT. ORBexpress RT is a real-time CORBA Object Request Broker (ORB) that enables software developers to simplify the development of distributed software applications, build scalable, efficient and robust applications, and reduce overall development time, meeting time-to-market requirements.

The SCA, developed by the United States Department of Defense for its Joint Tactical Radio System program, specifies how hardware and software elements of a radio interact to support software defined radio functionality. A key component of the SCA is the requirement to use CORBA as a middleware layer for the application framework and waveform application components operating on general-purpose processors. ORBexpress RT provides critical real-time CORBA capabilities to support deterministic systems where speed, predictability and reliability are important. It provides a minimal footprint, low latency and low overhead to allow SDR developers to build scalable, efficient and robust applications.

[ flexComm Waveform Design Studio: Powerful and lowest priced "IF to Ethernet" solution ]

flexComm Waveform Design Studio for rapid development

Spectrum's flexComm™ Waveform Design Studio™ provides the industry's lowest price "IF to Ethernet" solution that integrates all the necessary waveform design elements in one box. Preconfigured with a fully licensed software stack and Zeligsoft Software's powerful Software Communications Architecture (SCA) development tools, the Waveform Design Studio increases productivity by equipping each designer on the project team with their own personal black-side development environment.

This turnkey solution integrates high performance processing modules with Harris Corporation SCA Core Framework, Zeligsoft SCA development tools, Microsoft Windows XP operating system, a CORBA object request broker and Spectrum's quicComm software development kit and SCA board support package. To get you developing immediately, the Waveform Design Studio also includes source code for a sample application illustrating a complete transmit and receive data flow from the RF/IF digital up and down conversion through Ethernet.
