TCI Selects Spectrum’s HCDR Subsystems
Spectrum Signal Processing will provide TCI with
flexComm HCDR
(High Channel Density Receiver) PowerPC-based subsystems for use in a wireless s
ignal monitoring application, a deal worth an estimated $3 million dollars over
the next two years. TCI selected Spectrum because it is "head and shoulders above
the competition". As well, Spectrum will be providing integration services to
integrate the HCDR subsystems directly into chassis’. The HCDR subsystem exploits
Spectrum’s patent-pending Solano Communications IC-based architecture to
provide high-speed, bi-directional communications channels (referred to as Solano~links)
between the Enhanced PMC (ePMC) daughter modules and the host carrier board, as well a
s between processors.
HCDR-1002: Highest Performance Reconfigurable Processing Platform
The HCDR-1002, part of Spectrum’s flexComm HCDR family of software defined radio subsystems,
is a VME High Channel Density Receiver subsystem designed for high capacity signal acquisition and
processing that combines the power of the G4 Altivec PowerPC with Xilinx Virtex FPGAs.
This HCDR subsystem provides up to 16 GFLOPS and over 200 billion Multiply and Accumulates
(MACs) per second of processing power with multiple interfaces that can combine for a total
data throughput of up to 7.5 GB/s. The Xilinx Virtex FPGAs are ideal for wideband and narrowband
channelization and Spectrum can provide off-the-shelf wideband and narrowband cores to speed
development times. Customers can configure many variations of the HCDR-1002 to suit their needs.
In addition, the modular architecture of the subsystem will support future capacity upgrades and
technology insertion as higher performance components become available in the market.
Visit Spectrum at AFCEA’s Signal Symposium
Spectrum will be exhibiting at the upcoming AFCEA Signal Symposium in Ft. Gordon, Georgia from November 27 – 29, 2001. At the show, you will learn about the latest C4I systems, including Spectrum’s High Channel Density Receiver products. Visit Spectrum in booth 318 to learn more about HCDR and Spectrum’s flexComm software defined radio subsystems.
