Spectrum Announces New Frequency Agile Wideband 200 MHz – 2.5 GHz RF Transceiver for SDR and SIGINT Applications
Burnaby, BC (PRWEB) November 29, 2010
Spectrum today announced the addition of a wideband, frequency-agile RF transceiver to its family of high-performance analog, I/O, and processing solutions: the RF-4902. The RF-4902 provides customers with RF-to-digital baseband capability in a compact single-slot rugged 3U CompactPCI (cPCI) card for use in applications including software-defined radio (SDR), tactical military communications (MILCOM), and signals intelligence (SIGINT).
“Spectrum is extremely excited to offer a rugged, wideband, frequency-agile RF transceiver solution optimized for use in the both the lab and in a deployed environment,” said Douglas Fast, President of Spectrum. “The RF-4902 instantly provides wideband RF capability to Spectrum’s popular SDR-4000 “IF-to-Ethernet” software defined radio (SDR) platform, and can be easily integrated into other third party platforms and with a variety of baseband processing sub-systems.”
The RF-4902 features the following:
- High linearity, wideband RF tuner/exciter, 200 MHz to 2.5 GHz (UHF, VHF, L-Band, ISM)
- Up to 195 MHz receive analog bandwidth and 400 MHz transmit analog bandwidth
- Supports fast frequency-hopping applications (20 microsecond tuning switch time)
- Multi-board synchronization for phase-coherent sampling applications such as beam forming, direction finding (DF), emitter location and SIGINT
- On-board user-programmable Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA for signal processing functions such as channelization (DDC/DUC), demodulation/modulation and error correction.
- Rugged 3U CompactPCI conduction-cooled or air-cooled form factor
- Rapid customization to satisfy project or application specific requirements.
- Canadian designed and manufactured – not subject to US ITAR restrictions
The RF-4902 is fully compatible with Spectrum’s SDR-4000 3U cPCI Software Defined Radio (SDR) platform and comes with Spectrum’s quicComm™ software suite which includes drivers, API, FPGA interface libraries, and reference examples to enable developers to rapidly develop their application and integrate their systems. A board support package (BSP) to support the Software Communications Architecture (SCA) is also available.
The RF-4902 is available for sale in North America and to most countries internationally, and is not subject to US ITAR restrictions. Spectrum will be demonstrating the RF-4902 at this year’s SDR ’10 Wireless Innovation Conference and Product Exposition.
