The SDR-4000 SCA option provides the necessary software components to develop
and operate SCA-compliant waveforms on SDR-4000-based radios and development
systems and includes:
- CRC Canada’s implementation of the SCARI++ SCA Core Framework v2.2
- ORBexpress RT from Objective Interface Systems, Inc.
- Green Hills INTEGRITY RTOS

The SCA is an open, non-proprietary specification defined by the
U.S. Joint Tactical Radio Systems (JTRS) program. It specifies software,
hardware, security, and networking architecture requirements for
open, programmable SDR systems with flexible, reprogrammable
communication capabilities. Specifically, the SCA specifies a common framework to
build-up, configure, connect and tear down distributed, embedded radio applications.
The goals of the SCA include open system architecture, cost effective utilization of
commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technology, waveform portability, software reuse,
interoperability with other communications systems, technology insertion and
hardware abstraction.
